What started out as a joke by class clown Thomas Flindt Jeppesen has caught fire. The idea to auction off the shoes that he was wearing came to him while dancing La Ventana on Monday. “ If Julio Bocca can do it, why can`t I,” he asks, not without good reason.
Initially he met with skepticism from his colleagues who are used to his many pranks. Undaunted, the self-confessed wheeler-dealer signed the shoes and brought them to the auction house of Lauruitz Christensen on Bredgade in auction house row. “ I told them about the Festival, and they thought it was a fantastic idea,” says Thomas.
Bidders can take part in the action online at www.lauritz.com, Scandinavia`s largest auction house.
In addition to the shoes, the highest bidder will receive two tickets valued at DKK 800 to the Bournonville Gala on saturday evening.

But don`t forget, bidding closes at noon on Saturday. And just in case you think this is “blot til lyst,” Thomas plans to award the money to a dancer between the ages of 16 and 25 to help cover the cost of studying abroad this summer.
Getting into the spirit of the Festival, Lauritz announced that it will donate its usual 18 percent commision to the winner of the grant that Thomas will choose on Saturday. “ If we make a lot of money on this,I`ll invest a chunk of it and start a fund that will be awarded every year,” says tycoon Thomas. He can be seen on Thursday as Corporal Steffen in The King`s Volunteers on Amager and on Friday as Mr. Mogens in A Folk Tale.
